In Florida, there are no plans to return to mask mandate, although other states will reintroduce a mask mandate as the delta variant increases among residents.

In Los Angeles, mask mandate is being re-introduced due to a sharp increase in coronavirus cases. Several of the new cases of Covid-19 are a highly contagious delta variant that has increased in California since California completely reopened its economy on June 15 and abandoned masking and social distancing. Most people with coronavirus are unvaccinated.

An executive order issued by Florida Governor Ron DeSantis prohibiting local governments from requiring face shields for residents will not be reconsidered, although hospitals are increasingly seeing patients seeking treatment for coronavirus symptoms. The CDC (the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention) still recommends the use of face mask for those who have not been vaccinated against the coronavirus.

According to CDC statistics, with the rapid spread of the new Delta variant of the coronavirus, the number of positive coronavirus cases in Florida has risen 7.8% in last week.

58% of Florida residents have received at least one dose of vaccine.
