Starting November 2021, Welcome back Snowbirds!
White House informed today that the US borders will open to European travelers starting early November 2021. The travelers need to be fully vaccinated. Borders will open to British, European and few other countries as well.
President Trump closed the US border over 1.5 years ago when the Covid-19 pandemic started. And we have waited ever since to hear when we will see our families again. The announcement made today stated that the borders will open in November this year. This is a good sign for all travel bans to be lifted soon.
British travelers, as well as tourists from the 26 Schengen countries are welcome to visit US. The travel ban was also lifted for Ireland, China, Iran, Brazil, South-Africa and India.
To be able to travel to the United States:
- Travelers must be fully vaccinated
- 2 shots of Pfizer or Moderna or 1 shot of Johnson & Johnson
- You must show your Vaccination record/card
- And it must be in English
- Travelers are required to show a negative Covid-19 test result
- Taken maximum 72 hours prior boarding
- Travelers are not required to self-quarantine upon arrival
Children that are not yet eligible to receive a vaccination are exempt from the travel vaccine policy.
CDC, The Federal Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, will require the airlines to collect information from the passengers. Phone number and email address will be collected so cross tracking is possibly in potential Covid-19 exposure situation.
Finnair’s direct flights from Helsinki to Miami could not start at any better time. Welcome back to the sunshine state snowbirds. Cannot wait to have my Finnish family visit for Christmas.
