Finns and local visitors at Palm Beach County came to Bryant Park in Lake Worth Beach Florida to celebrate the Finnish Heritage festival.
It was a three-day event and there was something for everyone. First day on Friday we had “Taste of Finland” event and a lot of locals were around the tables tasting salmon (Finnish national fish) in different variations. Finnish pea soup was so tasty that there was not enough for everyone. I tasted a dessert that is a typical dish in middle Finland called “Talkkuna hyve”. It was delicious.
Funland at the children’s corner had a lot of fun for all the kids. There was face painting, singing, dance groups, bungee jumping etc.
Saturday the park was jampacked with cars, motorcycles and people, because we had a car and bike show sponsored by Palm Beach Mazda. There were different variations of music from rock to pop music all day long. A lot of vendors was around the park selling items.
Nobody missed the main event on Sunday. Wife carrying contest is serious sport and at the same time so hilarious to watch. There were four couples who carried their wives on their shoulders and ran over the obstacles. If you couldn’t come this year please come next year, you will love this Finnish Heritage event in Florida.
