I was planning to do something different this Mother’s Day in Florida and I booked my tickets well in advance for the Fort Lauderdale Air Show that was held on Fort Lauderdale Beach. A lot of people came to the show, but there was plenty of space on the beach to keep a distance of six feet.

Partly cloudy skies, southwest winds and temperatures in the mid 80’s were the perfect conditions to watch the show. I waited with interest for the flight display of the Navy Blue Angels. I had seen them once before when the coronavirus pandemic began and the Blue Angels flew over the hospitals in South Florida, showing respect to the hospital staff and all frontline workers who fight against the coronavirus. However, the flight show exceeded all my expectations and it was absolutely awesome to see up close The helicopter and planes of The Red Bulls team did absolutely breathtaking turns and “tricks” in the sky. The F 16 Viper Demo flight was so loud that I had to cover my ears for a moment. Military “Super Uber” was a massive and very interesting aircraft to see up close. Geico Skytyper planes with red nose gear also gave a memorable performance in the sky.

My favorite, however, was Lucas Oil Pitts Michael Wiskus who flew on a small orange plane and his passion for flying was 100% reflected in the show. By watching the video below, you will understand what I mean. If you’ve never been to a flight show and you have a chance to go, I highly recommend it. The next flight show in Florida is May 15-16, 2021 in Melbourne. A link to the flight shows can be found here.
