Porin Jazz festival has been cancelled, for the second year in a row due to the continuing Covid-19 pandemic. The official site of Pori Jazz announced, that due to the current situation and uncertainty how the Covid-19 situation will evolve, the festival is cancelled. However, there will be music on the Lokkilava -stage for three days in July; from July 15th until July 17th,

The Pori Jazz festival has been organized since 1966 and for many visiting Pori and especially the main stage at Kirjurinluoto during this festival is a yearly tradition. Unfortunately, this 9 day long festival has been cancelled again, due to the uncertainty of the pandemic. There is no clear guidance as of yet how organizing larger scale events might change before July. And Pori Jazz is definitely on the larger scale, with hundreds of thousands of visitors during the festival.

Even though we will miss the main Jazz festival, there will be some live music in Pori during the summer. Kirjurinluoto and Lokkilava – stage will be home for a three day long mini festival called “Pori Jazz soi taas” roughly translated, Pori Jazz will play again. This event will be organized from July 15th to July 17th and according to the official site, Pepe Willberg & Jukka Eskola Statement will be lined up to perform. Four artists will be heard per day and number or people will be limited to the concerts.

“Pori Jazz soi taas” event will be smaller than the “normal” jazz festival, but at least it is something. So, if you are planning on traveling to Finland and to Pori in July, get your tickets to the event. There is only a limited number of tickets available, however, the organizer is saying that if the rules and regulations change, they will be adding more tickets. Tickets will be available to purchase on Ticketmaster starting May 7th.
