My Little House on the highway

Hello, I’m Elina. Welcome to follow my journey with my husband Heikki across North America. In this blog, you can get a behind-the-scenes look what life is like on the road.

Monday 4.19.2021 Last Load Before We Go Home

While walking last night, we noticed that the driver, who was loading the same load in Seattle as we were, was also at the truck stop.  So an hour went by with him while talking about Finland. We continued the conversation this morning at the breakfast table. He was really interested in Finland and he wants to visit there one day.  He had been interested in Finland before.

We drove behind him to the unloading site and after unloading our loads, our ways parted.  We set off in the direction of Kentucky. He took a day off and worked on his truck. It took less than three hours to get to new place.  On the way was a distinctive law firm billboard.

The trees and shrubs had already gotten leaves on the branches, so the forest looked more beautiful than the last time we visited here.  Autumn/ Fall colors must be beautifil here! No more trunks were visible.  It also seemed that the storm had taken over and felled the trees.  The roadwork was just before the Kentucky border.

So yesterday we moved back to our own time, that is, we are in Eastern time zone.  We didn’t escape the road constructions in Kentucky either. There were reddish lane lines.

The loading site had to stop at two offices before we got to the actual loading area.  We had to build an a load level to make all the goods fit in the load.  The ramp served as a good “wall”.

The further north we drove, the fewer leaves there were in the trees.
