Helsinki Airport has been recognized during a tough COVID year. It won two awards, first being as the best airport in Europe in its size (15 to 25 million). The second award is in recognition for its hygiene measures during the pandemic.
The award is called Airport Service Quality -award and it is given by Airports Council International ACI. It is based on results from passenger surveys.
The past year has been tough, especially for airports as traveling suddenly crashed. Airports around the world have put a lot of emphasis on travel safely to make the few travelers feel like they can fly again. Ulla Lettijeff, Airport Director for Helsinki airport at Finavia says.
That the thank you goes to each and every employee at the airport as they are the front liners whom have made smooth and safe traveling possible.
The airport also further improved their hygiene measures and communication so that each and every traveler would have the needed information when traveling to, from or through Helsinki Airport. The airport has also been recognized world widely thanks to the codiv sniffers and also the innovative UVC disinfection of the security control trays.
The massive reconstruction of the entire airport is still ongoing, and surely, they are even more motivated now to make and keep Helsinki in the leading position of airports. If you are traveling to or from Finland, please note that you can currently only enter and exit through terminal 1. Short stopping in front of terminal 1 is possible to drop off passengers, however, if you are planning on picking arriving passengers up, please park in the parking garage P3. The airport is estimating to finish the terminal construction and open the new main entrance by December 2021.
